Sixth Book: Completed

It is 1:30 in the morning and I just finished reading Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

There’s lots to say, but I’m not going to say it now.

Now, I sleep.

In the morning, we talk.

  1. Congratulations on finishing book 6 and I wish you a well deserved good night’s sleep!

  2. After the finishing the 6th book (just about 6 months ago) I fell into a pretty serious depression. I knew what was coming and everything, I just couldn’t handle it. I hope you aren’t having the same Half Blood Prince nightmares I had the night I finished the book.

  3. SO EXCITED FOR YOU. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! 7 is coming!!!!!!

  4. Congratulations. It feels like everything after Goblet of Fire (and maybe Prisoner of Azkaban) should be called “pivotal,” but…. Half Blood Prince is really, *honestly* pivotal to the series.

As far as Jenn’s comment: just remember, JKR knows more than you do. This is a great series.

  5. YAY! I’m so glad you made it all the way through with this one–now to the best book ever! (After you wade through the first half of Deathly Hallows.) Seriously, who doesn’t think DH is the best of the series? Only those who haven’t yet read it, I am thinking.

  6. Anybody want to take a wager on how long before we’re all showing Jess around the Harry Potter Web? :)

You’ve really picked up the pace, girl! Are you going to be able to slow down and savor it all now that you’ve reached Deathly Hallows?

(I read DH in 36 hours… and that was just because I actually took the first night to sleep).

    • I can’t tear through the 7th Book for a variety of reasons: 1) I need to sleep every night because I have work in the morning and my weekends are pretty hectic – sleep is good, 2) I just started another show (which is what screwed up the reading of Book 6 the first time around) so while I’m going to make time to read each chapter at a good speed, I can’t be reading all night, and 3) I’ve been waiting WAY TOO LONG to get to this book to fly through it in one night.

As you said, gotta savour it.

      • Are you going to take a break between HBP and DH? HBP has a lot to mull over, and you probably have read the series quickly enough overall to be in no rush to get to DH so you don’t forget what you’ve already read.

DH is pretty heavy, even more so than HBP.

Don’t take a break for me, BTW — I just remember what the previous show did to your reading schedule.

      • I don’t want to take a break between HBP and DH, per say. I definitely have two more entries concerning the end of HBP planned – one for each remaining chapter. Another entry wrapping Book 6 up is probably called for. Then, of course, we need the “Predictions for Book 7″ entry. This will probably lead me into next week.

I’m not delaying DH, but I’m not rushing into it, either. I’m not going to let the book fall by the wayside in the same way HBP did, however. I think a lot of that was the result of HBP being sort of slow, in addition to me being really busy. But my schedule isn’t as crazy with this show and the book is bound to be way more exciting, so I think this will work fine.
